An adverb that modifies a verb tells how the verb is done.
- My grandma walks slowly
- They work hard
- Sam sings well
An adverb that modifies an adjective or an adverb are called adverbs of degree. They modify the degree of the word that is being modified.
- The house is big enough.
- That bed is very comfortable.
- The room is too crowded.
- She swims very fast.
- They work really carefully.
- I'm doing very fine.
